If you're making filter coffee by hand, you'll need a medium grind. The ground coffee is similar to coarse salt, and the total extraction time should be between 2:15 and 2:45 minutes.

Which coffee is suitable for the Hario V60?

Tastes vary, but we recommend light roasts roasted specifically for filter coffee. These retain the complexity of the usually very high-quality Arabica beans. Coffee blends with Robusta taste quite bitter and earthy when prepared as filter coffee, so we advise against them. Dark roasts, which are more suitable for espresso, have a predominant roasted aroma when prepared as filter coffee. Filter coffees from our Fruity & Complex and Balanced & Sweet categories are therefore best suited for the Hario V60.

How do you make cold brew?

Cold brew is coffee that's been cold-brewed for 12-24 hours—in the refrigerator at around 5-7°C. All you need is fresh water and coarsely ground coffee. A guideline for the brewing ratio is 80g of coffee to 1 liter of water, but the recipe should be adjusted to suit the individual coffee.
