Coffee from the drum roaster

All our coffees are roasted in a handcrafted drum roaster from Greece. The slow drum roasting process creates particularly delicate aromas that aren't sufficiently developed in industrial roasting processes with high temperatures and short roasting times. We develop a unique roasting profile for each variety, highlighting the benefits of the raw coffee. Therefore, the roasting time varies depending on the desired roast profile for espresso beans and filter coffee.

Most espresso beans are roasted for between 12 and 16 minutes, while a filter coffee roast takes only 8 to 11 minutes. Depending on the roasting profile and fill level, the individual roasting parameters vary. These include the gas supply, drum speed, and airflow. Coffee roasting is a craft that requires experience above all else, but must be monitored by modern technology. That's why we use special software to control all parameters during the roasting process and react to any deviations. This is the only way to ensure consistent quality and excellent flavor.

Find your favorite coffee

With our coffee sampler packages, you can sample our entire range and get one step closer to finding your favorite coffee. Dividing the coffee varieties into three categories is intended to make your selection easier, but not limiting. After all, you can also prepare a filter coffee roast in a moka pot (for example, the Brikka by Bialetti) or on a portafilter machine.

Our light coffee roasts produce hardly any roasted aroma, but the acidity and sweetness are even more intense than in darker roasts. Therefore, coffees from our Fruity & Complex category provide more insight into the terroir, processing, and variety than coffees with intense roasted aromas.

Conversely, you can also prepare longer-roasted coffees from our Dark & Full category as filter coffee. The pronounced roasted aroma gives the coffee a "strong" feel, although the roasting degree does not affect the caffeine content. The longer roasting time allows the acids to largely break down, making it a perfect choice for coffee drinkers who prefer acidity.

Our coffee tasting packages are an invitation to immerse yourself in the flavor diversity of coffee. Because coffee is just as complex as wine and should be consciously perceived as a luxury item.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which coffee varieties do the coffee sample packages contain?

The Espresso Sampler includes 5 x 250g espresso beans for the price of four. You can choose between Single Origin Arabica or Single Origin Arabica & Blends. The Filter Coffee Sampler consists of 4 x 250g coffee beans roasted for filter coffee.

When compiling our coffee sampler packages, we ensure a balanced selection from our categories so that you get a good impression of our product range.

Are the coffee sample packs only available as whole beans or also as ground coffee?

When ordering, you can choose between whole bean or ground coffee. For filter coffee, we offer various grind sizes; for the espresso sample pack, we only offer whole bean or ground coffee for a moka pot. If you would like to order ground coffee for a portafilter machine, please indicate this in the comments during checkout. Generally speaking, coffee for a portafilter machine should always be freshly ground using a dedicated espresso grinder, as the grind size is extremely sensitive for this preparation method.

How does single origin coffee differ from blends?

Single Origin refers to coffee from a specific growing region. For example, our Oaxaca is named after the region in southern Mexico. All of our pure Arabica coffees come from a single farm or cooperative (a group of several coffee farmers who deliver their cherries for processing and export). This specific origin is referred to as Single Estate Coffee. You can recognize our Single Estate coffees by the solid color on the label.
Blends, on the other hand, refer to a mixture of several coffee varieties from different growing regions. This means that a blend can contain coffee from several origins, as well as Arabica and Robusta coffee. As a coffee roaster, we always strive for a harmonious blend to offer our customers a unique taste experience. You can recognize our two Robusta blends by the multicolored striped area on the label.
