Aeropress preparation
What distinguishes coffee from the Aeropress
The Aeropress was originally designed for travel. Its compact design and lightweight plastic make it easy to fit in any suitcase. What's special about the Aeropress, however, is not just its construction, but its brewing process.
It's actually a variation of immersion brewing (like the French press). The difference is that the coffee is pressed through a paper filter with a plunger instead of filtered through a metal sieve.
This allows you to use the Aeropress to produce full-bodied filter coffee, as well as strong mocha-like extracts. It's worth experimenting!

This Aeropress guide does not disappoint
1. First, bring the water to a boil to preheat the Aeropress .

Then rinse the paper filter with water. This will prevent any unwanted paper taste.

2. Meanwhile, weigh the coffee and grind it in the grinder of your choice. Choose a medium grind, similar to a hand filter.
3. Then empty the water, screw the filter basket onto the bottom of the Aeropress, and place it on the server or a cup. Empty the ground coffee into the container and place the server and Aeropress on your scale.

4. After taring, start the timer and begin adding the desired amount of water. Stir gently to avoid lumps.

Tip: Note that the water temperature decreases by 3°C - 4°C just by watering.
5. Then place the plunger on the bottom part of the Aeropress.

This means that the coffee no longer runs through the paper filter into the cup and extracts for 1 - 2 minutes, depending on the recipe.

6. After the desired brewing time, slowly press the plunger down. This forces the coffee through the paper filter. This takes about 30 seconds.
If you have to exert a lot of force to push the piston down, your grind is too fine. If it takes significantly less than 30 seconds, the grind is too coarse.
Tip: To clean, simply unscrew the filter attachment and dispose of the coffee grounds and filter. Clean the Aeropress itself under warm running water.
